Why This Club Exists
Why This Club Exists
The Canine Fitness Club wasn’t created as a business idea or a project I thought would be “useful.” It was born out of lived experience — out of love, frustration, heartbreak, and the determination to help a dog who needed more than the world knew how to give her.
It exists because of Luna.
Luna arrived in my life like a storm wrapped in sunshine — brilliant, sensitive, eager to connect, yet carrying more fear and discomfort than any young dog should. She struggled with fear‑based reactivity that made everyday life unpredictable. Walks, visitors, noises, new places… everything felt like a challenge. And beneath the behaviour, her body was fighting its own battles: hip dysplasia, arthritis, allergies, digestive issues, chronic skin flare‑ups. Each problem fed into the next, creating a cycle of pain, stress, and confusion that shaped every part of who she was.
I didn’t understand any of this at first. I thought I just needed to “train” her better. But Luna taught me the lesson that changed everything:
behaviour is never just behaviour.
Pain changes dogs. Fear changes dogs. And when both are present, they can’t simply “try harder.”
Every time she struggled, I felt like I was failing her. Every time someone judged her — or me — I felt more alone. And every time I was told she was “stubborn,” “dramatic,” or “too much,” I knew deep down that something else was going on.
So I started digging. Learning. Questioning. Unlearning.
Luna pushed me into hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and canine conditioning because she needed more than basic training could offer. She needed someone who understood her body as deeply as her mind. She needed someone who could see the whole dog — not just the symptoms.
And in trying to help her, I found my purpose.
Luna is the reason I became a hydrotherapist.
She’s the reason I co‑developed and authored the OFQUAL‑regulated Level 4 in Canine Physical Training.
She’s the reason I believe so strongly in compassionate, science‑based support for dogs and their humans.
Through her, I saw how many dogs are misunderstood. How many owners feel judged, ashamed, or overwhelmed. How many people are trying their absolute best without the knowledge, guidance, or support they deserve.
This club exists for those people.
For the owners who want to help their dogs feel stronger, safer, and more comfortable.
For the dogs who don’t fit the “easy” mould.
For the beginners who don’t know where to start.
For the sport dogs who need a solid foundation.
For anyone who wants to understand their dog’s body, not just manage their behaviour.
It exists because fitness shouldn’t be intimidating or exclusive.
It shouldn’t require expensive equipment or advanced knowledge.
It should be accessible, kind, and empowering.
Luna taught me that when we understand our dogs’ bodies, we can change their lives.
She taught me that progress is built on patience, compassion, and small, consistent steps.
And she taught me that no owner should ever feel alone in trying to help their dog.
The Canine Fitness Club is part of her legacy — a place where everything she taught me can now help you and your dog build confidence, strength, and a deeper connection.
My hope is that this club gives you what I once needed:
clarity, support, understanding, and the reassurance that you’re doing right by your dog.
Because every dog deserves to feel good in their body.
And every owner deserves to feel confident in helping them get there.
